So much oak on here – really fragrant vanilla and sweet spice. Ripe cherry fruit beneath and seems to have more in common with Tuscany than the Douro, for me. Ageing so slowly! Fine, balanced tannins. Lengthy and savoury. Could last well. (RH)

Field blend but notably Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. Quinta do Carril and other old vineyards. Vines 70+ and 100+ years. Deep crimson with bluish rim. Subtle fresh fruit, slight stemmy note, silky fresh and just a touch of mocha on the finish. Elegant and so silky. pH 3.64. 24 months in French oak but the oak currently shows mainly on the finish. Scented red fruit on the mid palate. Long and lingering with the lightness of touch of old vines and restrained winemaking. (JH)

Complex and inviting nose, a delicacy that has sweetness and florality but without excess. Dry and lively on the palate, red fruited, dancing freshness within those dry tannins. Glides over the palate with mineral finesse and leaves your mouth feeling fresh even though the tannins are present. (JH)

Dense, young and tight with cool acid. Victoria plums, dusty tannins, broad fruit with a lot of muscle and grip. Needs time, and plenty of it! (RH)
