Tasting notes
The 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie comes to life slowly in the glass. With time, a delicate and pretty display of rose-tinged cherry, licorice, cinnamon and hints of worn leather develop in the glass. This is so pretty and lifted. “Finesse” is not a word often used with Amarone; but yes, it’s that, too. It has vivid cherry fruits, brilliant acidity and stimulating minerality. The finish is staining and fresh, not quite as long as other vintages; yet the 2007 already makes an impact long before then. There is so much pleasure to be found here, and many years of development are in store for patient collectors.

The 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie boasts fabulous textural richness and body. Dark cherries, cinnamon, flowers, spices and licorice are some of the many notes that jump from the glass. Sweet balsamic notes develop with time, adding considerable complexity and character. The 2007 impresses for its mid-palate density and fabulous overall balance.

Brigaldara can be counted on for exuberant, flashy wines. With time some of the lushness that is present upon release melts away and the wines acquire lovely complexity. Recent bottles of the estate’s 1986 and 2001 were superb. Importer: Vinifera Imports, Ronkonkoma, NY; tel. (631) 467-5907
