The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle Sous La Chapelle wafts from the glass with notes of ripe strawberries, plum preserve, licorice and raw cocoa. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, fine-grained and expansive, with good depth and amplitude, and a fine chassis of tannin that’s beginning to assert itself as the wine shuts down.
