Single-vineyard wines had already been launched, including the McCrone Pinot Noir. The estate was not yet certified organic at this time. Only 20% whole bunch (less than currently) but élevage (12 months in 25% new barriques, then 6 months in tank) remains unchanged. Quite a deep crimson. Pale rim. Subtle, savoury nose. Very juicy, energetic fruit that is still vibrant and very much alive. Floral with some mushroom notes. Very attractive. (JR)

Savory, herbal and dark-fruited, the 2013 Pinot Noir is medium to full-bodied, quite supple but firm, with a backbone of wiry acids and a long, mouthwatering finish.

Bright medium red. Lively, complex, soil-driven aromas of red berries, dark cherry, plum, smoke, herbs and spices. Suave and fine-grained, with cherry and darker fruit flavors complicated by a hint of menthol and forest floor and spice notes contributing a savory quality. This sappy, bright, nicely delineated wine displays a restrained sweetness and very good length, and has the firm, broad tannins to support a graceful evolution in bottle.

Mid crimson. Less lifted and immediate than the Crimson 2014, more spicy and savoury, dark-red fruit, plus a deliciously dry texture thanks to very fine-grained tannins. Structured and harmonious. Plenty of spice but it seems to be fruit- not oak-derived. Long and focused. The long drinking window is informed by this impressive  vertical tasting in London last year. (JH)
