Score 97/100 · James Suckling, Sep 2020

A warmer year that then cooled down to deliver a long, mild ripening season with good ripeness. Gently flinty. Plenty of ripe yellow peaches, nectarines and fresh, hazelnutty oak on offer. Still so fresh. The palate has a very deeply rich and powerful core of lemon and grapefruit with ripe peach here, too. Sinewy texture. Long and intense. The acidity is salient. Drink now. Screw cap.

Matured for ten months in oak puncheons, of which 33% were new. Strong sulphidic aromas on the nose, with a matchstick and flint character that is almost a bit too much. Good sleek texture on the palate, but there’s a leanness here that is just perhaps a bit too restrained. (RH)
