Wairarapa, Wellington Wine Country. Organic. RS 4 g/l. Light, smoky, floral and very clean. Then admirable structure on the palate. Real beginning, middle and end. Very easy to see a relationship with Alsace here – none whatsoever with Italy. Long, with a hint of almond bitterness. This could easily stand up to all sorts of food. Asian? Salads? (JR)

A little bit of skin contact and made in old barrels. Gone from RS 30 g/l to RS 5.5 g/l over time because the vines are now about 21 years old. (No of course they wouldn’t pull them out to plant Pinot Noir; the vines are just getting interesting!) Light smoky Alsace nose. Very light pinkish tinge. Rich and broad. Low acid makes it taste richer than RS 5.5 g/l. Already quite evolved. (JR)

The 2016 Pinot Gris has youthful apple and pear notes with spicy hints of dill seed, anise and mace. Medium-bodied and off-dry in style, it delivers very pleasant spice and apple character with a lively backbone and good length.
