Score 93/100 · Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Despite the warm growing conditions, yields were reduced significantly to achieve balance and crispness in the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione. Only 6,600 bottles were produced. The wine opens to mature and exuberant fruit that shows a dark ruby appearance with plump aromas of blackberry and plum. There is a touch of evolution as well with noticeable layers of tar, smoke and licorice. Despite its rich texture, the wine is long and polished in terms of mouthfeel. May 2017, www.robertparker.com
