Tasting notes
The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc Vieris leaps from the glass with a lively display that mixes crushed stone and sweet smoke with notes of sage, mint and Meyer lemon. This soothes with its elegant textures and ripe citrus-tinged orchard fruits, coming across juicy, and supported by saline-infused acidity. The result is one of symmetry, both savory and sweet, tapering off sapid and clean with an almondy richness. The 2015 is a wine of contrasts that still has a lot to say over the coming years. A big change was made in this vintage, as Gallo decided to begin maturing the Vieris only in used barrique between two to eight years old. The sunny nature of the vintage shines through in this wine's vivid fruit.

There is a bit more heat in this vintage, but the 2015 Friuli Isonzo Rive Alte Sauvignon Blanc Vieris (with 29,853 bottles made) is a nice wine, with slightly more candied fruit and a thicker style compared to the 2016. It appears also to be a bit more saturated in its golden appearance. This is a warm and soothing Sauvignon that you might pair with pasta in a cream and lemon sauce.
