Tasting notes
The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Querciabella reveals a deep and layered presentation of dark fruit. It offers a quick succession of dried blackberry, cassis and rose hip. Spice, leather and moist chewing tobacco give the wine a larger sense of dimension and weight at the back. This pretty Chianti Classico Riserva closes with bright acidity and elegant endnotes of dried mint and balsam herb.

The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva is a very beautiful, understated wine built on grace and finesse. Sweet floral and tobacco notes give the 2013 its aromatic lift. Precise and sculpted on the palate, with lovely juiciness to match, the 2013 is super-expressive today. This is another bright, vibrant wine with tons of Sangiovese character. The 2013 needs time for the tannins to soften, but it is very nicely done.

About the producer

Literally translating as “beautiful oak”, Querciabella was created in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni. A pioneer in Chianti, he started farming biodynamically and experimenting with both varieties and winemaking – one result of which was Camartina, the property’s flagship Super Tuscan.
