(375ml) Quince jelly, white peach preserves and candied lime dominate on a heady nose and a glossy, expansive palate. A hint of white raisin points to the influence of shriveling and botrytis. There is a tangy fresh side to the lime here, too, although for the moment the overall effect comes off as a bit inharmoniously sweet-sour. The finish is certainly seriously sustained, if a bit sticky in feel as well as tangy. This really deserves to be revisited.

The 2015 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling Auslese Falkenlay is pure and flinty on the nose. It reveals stimulating acidity, grip and mineral tension on the palate and will benefit from further bottle aging.
