Tasting notes
The 2016 Les Hauts du Tertre is a very pretty, gracious second wine from du Tertre. Floral notes and bright red berry fruit give the wine lovely lift to match its silky, airy personality. The high percentage of Cabernet Franc (30 percent) comes through in the wine's aromatic profile. The 2016 will drink nicely upon release.

The 2016 Les Hauts du Tertre, the Deuxième Vin of Château du Tertre, will be released en primeur for the first time this year and comprises of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It has an attractive nose of crushed strawberry and cranberry, very generous and the Cabernet Franc really lending personality. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a crisp line of acidity, harmonious with red berry fruit laced with cola on the finish. This is a very commendable second label and comes recommended as an easy-drinking pleasure over the next 7-10 years. The 2016 Les Hauts du Tertre has a medium garnet-purple color and nose of tar, dried herbs, earth and plums with a waft of red and black currants. The medium-bodied palate is chewy with just enough fruit, finishing earthy. Nov 2018, www.robertparker.com
