Tasting notes
Marcus Schultz is the grower. 60% Roussanne, fermented naturally in tank and no malo. Marsanne fermented in old and new barriques and goes through malo and stirred a bit. No acid additions. Ripe and sweet yellow fruit on the nose. Rich and fat on the palate, just enough freshness and with lovely creamy texture. Complex, nutty nose, smoky. Just slightly honeyed. Should get fresher and tighten up as it ages. Like the best northern Rhône whites, its freshness depends more on texture and savoury qualities than on acidity. Full and broad and spicy in the mouth. Lots of texture and richness. Really long. With crab or lobster, says Powell (ie Christmas in Australia). (JH)

A blend of 60% Marsanne and 40% Roussanne, the 2016 Marsanne Roussanne offers pretty scents of warm peach, beeswax, honey and allspice with a hint of baking bread. Medium-bodied with plenty of savory and stone fruit flavor layers, it has a satiny texture and great persistence. 160 cases were made.
