2012 Brunello di Montalcino

Tasting notes
Here's a linear and straight-shooting wine to pair with homemade pasta or game meat. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino offers a compact and streamlined style that would pair nicely next to foods of heavier consistency and more pungent flavors. The wine is polished and crisp with some sharpness to keep the palate clean. I would recommend drinking this Brunello within the next five to eight years.

Tasted blind. Deep ruby with orange rim. Beautiful depth and clarity on the nose with hints of graphite. Plush, multi-layered palate with fine, polished tannins, and loads of them. Gorgeous, tangy, deep-fruit finish. Closes up quickly, indicating that this needs time. (WS)
