Moving to the 2015s, the 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Le Rouvre was completely destemmed and brought up all in demi-muids. Deep ruby/plum colored with a fresh, focused bouquet of plums, blackcurrants, leafy herbs and pepper, it’s more ripe, rounded and voluptuous on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness and weight, ripe, polished tannin and an undeniably sumptuous, hedonist style. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or so.

From 50-year-old vines grown near the Pont de l'Isere, the 2015 Crozes Hermitage le Rouvre is a terrific effort. Aged in demi-muids, only five to ten percent of which are new, it's full-bodied and creamy in texture, ripe without being over-ripe, and loaded with blueberries, cassis and spice. Priced in the mid $30 range (I've seen it for less in Europe), it's a screaming deal.

(sourced from 60-year-old vines in Chassis, at Pont de l'Isère, and raised in new and used demi-muids ) Inky ruby. Sexy, mineral-tinged red and dark berry aromas show excellent clarity and pick up suggestions of woodsmoke and olive with aeration. Sweet and broad in the mouth, offering intense black raspberry and boysenberry flavors and a touch of star anise. Blends power and elegance with a smooth hand and finishes long and juicy, displaying excellent focus and smooth tannins that sneak up slowly.

Bright violet. Spicy black and blue fruits, pungent flowers and smoky minerals on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy and expansive in the mouth, offering concentrated boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter on the back half. The dark berry note lingers on the spicy, very long finish.
