The 2016 La Louvière Blanc has a primal bouquet of grapefruit and green apple, missing the complexity of some of its peers. The palate is rounded on the entry with a waxy texture and a fine bead of acidity, but I feel it is slightly overworked toward the finish. Give this another year or two in bottle and it may warrant a higher score, as it did just after bottling. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Another terrific white in the vintage, the 2016 Château La Louvière Blanc offers some reductive characteristics as well as ripe citrus, lemon, and a touch of minerality with time in the glass. It’s balanced, has a supple, pretty texture, and bright acidity, all making for a delicious white to drink over the coming 4-6 years or so.

The 2016 La Louvière Blanc is much more backward than the L de la Louvière Blanc at the moment. The palate is well balanced, with fresh citrus fruit on the entry, laced with quince and a tang of marmalade. It builds nicely to quite a cohesive, persistent finish. This appears to have improved during its barrel aging and evolved into a thoroughly pleasant white Bordeaux.
