Tasting notes
The 2016 Tertre Rôteboeuf has a high-toned, rather oaky bouquet that comes across like a Saint-Emilion from the 1990s. It is not unattractive per se and improves dramatically in the glass (indeed, not knowing that Tertre-Rôteboeuf was in this flight, I misread the wine). The palate is rich on the entry, sweet black fruit cloaked in dark chocolate with just a little sous-bois on the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2016 Tertre-Rôteboeuf has a ravishing, luscious, ripe, meaty bouquet that threatens to overwhelm the senses. This must surely be Tertre-Rôteboeuf! The palate is soft and caressing on the entry, and very pliable, with hints of oxtail and hickory toward the finish. Those who love François Mitjavile’s wine will love this. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Here’s the opulence of Tertre Roteboeuf. Very, very distinctive and full of rich, soaked-biscuit pleasure if you don’t mind richness. (JR)
