68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot. Bright cherry red and sweet/sour cherry in the aroma. Chewy tannins with plenty of fruit at the core. Great fruit and carefully built to age but to showcase the fruit. Needs time. (JH)

Nice cassis on the nose, but also some char-grilled artichoke. Generous, rather tannic with a touch green at the finish. A blend of 71 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 23 per cent merlot and six per cent petit verdot. Try in 2021.
The 2016 du Retout has quite a high toned bouquet with mulberry, pressed iris and blackcurrant aromas. It is well defined and seems to gain complexity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, but there is also a fine line of acidity and attractive cedar and tobacco notes towards the finish. Give it two or three years in bottle. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.
71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot. Glossy blackcurrant, sweet spices, chewy tannins, and more body than the Cru Bourgeois average, giving this more persistence and weight as a result. (RH)
