Dense and minerally red with blueberry and blackberry character. Hints of licorice, too. Medium body and a juicy finish. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com

This sports a brambly, energetic edge, with a core of cherry paste and raspberry coulis flavors stretching out nicely while anise and singed juniper fill in through the finish. Apr 2017, James Molesworth, www.winespectator.com
Dark vibrant crimson. Not much nose and much scrawnier than its stablemate Vray Croix de Gay. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2024-2034
One of the most exciting wines of the vintage, the 2016 Le Prieuré is another superb wine from the group of estates owned jointly by Paul Goldschmidt and the Artemis Group that also includes Siaurac and Vray Croix de Gay. A rich, sumptuous wine, the 2016 Le Prieuré possesses stunning depth in all of its dimensions, yet at the same time remains fresh and vibrant throughout. Potent tannins drive the finish, but they are nearly buried by the sheer intensity and luxuriousness of the fruit. A host of dark red cherry, woodsmoke, tobacco, herbs and crushed flowers build in a deeply expressive and resonant Saint Émilion of the highest level. Tasted three times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
