This fruity wine offers soft tannins and crisp black-currant tones. It is spicy and bright, with plenty of acidity on the finish. Apr 2017, Roger Voss, www.wineenthusiast.com
Rich and crimson-tasting with just a hint of pencil shavings. Very sweet. Just a bit too sweet. Drying end. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2023-2030
The 2016 de Fonbel is soft, supple and quite pretty. Sweet, floral aromatics and gently lilting small red fruits give the 2016 its delicate, gracious personality. A model of understatement and class, the 2016 should drink well pretty much right out of the gate. Today, the 2016 is a touch compact. It will be interesting to see if it fleshes out a bit more during its aging. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
About the producer

Owned by the same family as Ch. Ausone, Ch. de Fonbel is one of the best-value Saint-Emilion estates. It has a long history stretching back to the Roman era, however its story really begins when Alain Vauthier purchased the property in 1971.
