Tasting notes
The second wine of Château Gracia is the 2016 Les Angelots de Gracia, 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc all raised in new oak. It’s a great wine in its own right and has a beautiful perfume of savory black fruits, incense, spice box, and graphite. Deep, concentrated, full-bodied, and opulent, it has more than a passing resemblance to the top cuvée and I suspect will drink nicely for 15-20 years.

The 2016 Les Angelots de Gracia is a bit disappointing on the nose, missing a sense of energy and joie-de-vivre . The rounded palate delivers plush red cherry fruit, and here, belatedly, one finds a sense of tension, leading to an attractive silky finish. If only the aromatics would up their game.
A dense and layered red with lots of crushed-berry and chocolate character. Full body, round and velvety tannins and a flavorful finish.
The 2016 Les Angelots de Gracia is just as alluring from bottle as it was in barrel. Inky, deep and explosive, the 2016 is superb. Inky blue/purplish berry fruit, lavender, mint, spice and licorice are all super-concentrated. The Angelots is a terrific example of modern Saint-Émilion at its best. There is so much character and sheer personality here. Readers should expect an unabashedly flamboyant style. Tasted two times.
