Tasting notes
Oberto's 2013 Barolo is supple, forward and absolutely delicious. Now with a year in bottle, the 2013 is super-expressive. Sweet red cherry, plum, leather, rose petal and sweet spice infuse the succulent finish. The straight Barolo is done in a mid-weight, accessible style that has quite a bit to offer. In other words, it is everything an entry-level Barolo should be. I loved it.

Oberto's 2013 Barolo possesses mid-weight structure, bright acidity and good overall depth. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherries, mint and white pepper are nicely delineated throughout. My sense is that the 2013 is still recovering from its mid-August bottling. Even so, it is very nicely done. Time in the glass helps the wine fill out a bit while the fruit gains depth and the tannins, acidity and overall structure become more vivid. The 2013 is an attractive, forward to drink over the next handful of years, not to mention a terrific entry-level bottling.
