Tasting notes
Deep lurid ruby. Mineral-accented aromas of ripe dark berries and pungent flowers, joined by a spicy nuance that builds in the background. Smooth and expansive on the palate, offering appealingly sweet blackberry and violet pastille flavors and a touch of smokiness. Puts on weight with air while maintaining vivacity and focus. Finishes bright, supple and long, displaying very good clarity, well-knit tannins and building spiciness.

The inky-colored 2015 Côte Rôtie includes 10% Viognier and offers a wild, feral style in its earth, peach pit, plum and old wood aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied and nicely textured on the palate, drink it over the coming decade or more.
90% Syrah, 10% Viognier. Tank sample. Much less oak quotient than the Rose Pourpre on the nose. Very savoury with some elegance and even leanness. Horses for courses. If you appreciate the more delicate side of the appellation, go for this. (JR)
