Tasting notes
Made with 100% Sangiovese, the 2010 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Capannino shows enormous varietal confidence. It shows a bright garnet color with ruby highlights and imparts seductive aromas of tilled earth, blue flower and wild berry. A hint of soft strawberry adds a touch of extra plushness and softness on the finish. This is a very nice effort that will appeal to Sangiovese enthusiasts. It was aged partially in French oak tonneaux and partially in Slavonian oak barrel. This organic farm is gearing up soon for winery renovations and planted a new Sangiovese vineyard in May 2014. This brings its total area to 25 hectares of Sangiovese, Sangiovese Grosso and Colorino on calcareous clay soils.

Good deep red. Knockout nose combines red fruits, violet, sweet spices and camphor, plus a light flinty nuance. Pure, silky and sweet, offering delightful subtle intensity to its floral, varietally accurate sangiovese flavors. Seems almost weightless on the palate, but a steely spine gives it terrific energy and snap. This wonderfully juicy, precise wine finishes very suave and extremely long.
