Score 94/100 · Drink 2013-2021, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Dec 2011

Deep purple colored, the 2009 “Coach House Block” Shiraz offers a vibrant, youthful nose of ripe black cherries, crushed blueberries and red currants over aromas of allspice, cloves, cinnamon stick and toast. Very full bodied, ripe and decadently fruited in the mouth, the richness is well structured with a medium to firm level of rounded tannins and crisp acidity. The finish is very long on this voluptuous stunner. Though tempting to drink now, it should be at its best 2013 to 2021+. Importer: Terlato Wines International, Lake Bluff, IL; www.twohandswines.com

Inky purple. Exotic, perfumed aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, roasted coffee and fruitcake. Open-knit, supple and juicy, with densely packed black and blue fruit, mocha and candied licorice flavors. The energetic finish shows surprising lift and a kiss of vanilla, with the boysenberry note echoing. I find this very approachable right now.

Slightly more reserved and deep than the ‘Barney’s Block’, the 2009 Two Hands Shiraz 'Coach House Block' Single Vineyard Seppeltsfield Road Greenock is a wine that slowly opens up over the evening and sports heavenly aromatics of smoked chocolate, black fruits, grilled beef, river moss, and graphite on the nose. Very layered and rich on the nose, the wine is full throttle on the palate and builds through the middle with thick fruit that’s held in check by perfect balance, a seamless, light texture, and a rock star finish that goes on and on. I love the aromatic profile here, as well as the structure, and this is not only fantastic now, but should evolve beautifully as well. I don’t think 15 to 20 years is out of the question and this is a special wine that lovers of Aussie Shiraz should not miss!
