Score 90/100 · Drink 2017-2020, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2017

The 2012 Dolcetto d'Alba Superiore is aged one year longer than the base Dolcetto d'Alba before its commercial release. This extra year does a lot to flesh out the fruit and render a more sophisticated taste profile that is not often attributed to this workhorse grape. In fact, this wine does not have that vinous rawness you sometimes get with the grape. Dolcetto does not deliver noble tannins, but this wine is soft and succulent instead.

The 2012 Dolcetto d'Alba shows a clean style and pristine approach with bright berry tones of blackberry and dark cherry. There's a good amount of sweetness here that characterizes both the bouquet and the mouthfeel. Otherwise, this interpretation is fresh, simple and easy to drink. Jun 2015, www.robertparker.com
