The 2014 Réserve de Léoville Barton has a little jamminess on the nose (one of the few Left Bank 2014s to demonstrate this.) It feels a little volatile and lacks some cohesion. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit, voluminous and smooth, quite enjoying to drink even if it is not an intellectual prospect. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Tasted blind. Strange coconut note on the nose — strange oak? Green edge to the rather stringy fruit. Very dry finish. (JR)
