Tasting notes
(these vines are now 65 years old): Moderately saturated, bright dark red. Ripe but reticent nose hints at red fruits. Supple and round but without quite the sweetness of the best 2014s here. Flavors of red cherry, redcurrant and spices are very Chambolle but I wanted some floral lift. Finishes with supple, broad tannins that turn a touch dry.

From the parcel purchased in 2009, the 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Gruenchers has a refined and sophisticated, mineral-driven nose that fans out beautifully with aeration. The palate is elegant and refined with filigree tannin, a killer line of acidity, immense precision and length. This could be one of the domaine's outstanding wines of the vintage -- magnifique!
