Tasting notes
Good dark red. Pungent perfume of raspberry, pomegranate and spicy oak. Densely packed and lightly saline, opening in the middle palate to display terrific palate-dusting breadth without any impression of weight. Lovely floral/spicy lift to the intense, classically dry red berry flavors. Finishes savory and subtly long, with firm, fine-grained tannins and excellent spicy lift.

(the youngest vines here are 55 years of age, according to Laurent): Deep red with ruby highlights. Sexy perfume of raspberry, licorice, violet and spicy new oak. Wonderfully sappy and intense, showing the reserve of a grand cru. Best today on the rising, salty, very long back end, where the dusty tannins arrive late. This may well give pleasure at all stages of its life in bottle, but I'd opt to hold mine for a decade.
