Tasting notes
The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée is fabulous, offering up a lovely bouquet of musk melon, citrus zest, vanilla bean and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, with a deep, layered mid-palate, succulent acids, excellent concentration and a long, searing finish. La Romanée is typically one of the rounder, more textural 1er Crus of Chassagne but at its best it also possesses a cool sense of reserve that this rendition exemplifies.

Firm reduction presently blocks an evaluation of the nose. By contrast there is fine vibrancy and freshness to the rich and relatively full-bodied flavors that retain a certain refinement despite the evident size, weight and power of the mineral-inflected finish. If there is a nit it's that this is not as persistent as some of the best wines in the range yet my sense is that this will ultimately come together.
