Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2028, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Haut-Bages Monpelou has a dense blackberry, wild strawberry and cedar-scented bouquet with pleasant pencil box aromas developing. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite focused and tensile with that graphite-theme returning on the classic finish that feels long in the mouth. This has clearly improved during its barrel maturation and should drink well for a decade.
