The 2014 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard is powerful and yet also quite seductive, with striking inner sweetness and aromatic intensity. A wine of total finesse and nuance, the Hirsch is showing beautifully today. Silky tannins round things out nicely. This is an especially refined vintage for the Hirsch.

Deep ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard is intensely scented of crushed raspberries and blackberries with a pretty perfume of violets, wild thyme and mossy bark. Light to medium-bodied, the intensity of flavors is nicely juxtaposed by the ethereal elegance, with soft, fine grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with lingering earthy notes. 700 cases were made.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard is shaping up to be a real beauty. Lavender, violets, cloves and black cherries are some of the signatures. A wine of magnificent perfume, structure and depth, the 2014 is going to need quite a bit of time, but it is superb, even at this early stage. With a little time in the glass, the wine finds more and more finesse. I tasted the Hirsch from barrel, where it had not been racked at the time of my tasting. There is so much to look forward to here.
