Score 87-89/100 · Drink 2019-2027, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2017

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes, which comes from purchased fruit, has a perfumed bouquet with dark cherry, blackcurrant and just a touch of licorice. The palate is medium-bodied with good structure, quite a masculine and punchy, perhaps lacking some refinement on the finish at the moment.

Bright medium ruby-red. Very ripe but reticent nose offers aromas of black cherry, coffee and mocha. Smooth in texture but with a tighter grain than the Combottes. Flavors of maraschino cherry and minerals convey an impression of energy and solid dry extract. Quite juicy on the finish but not yet pliant, this wine has the structure for aging. (Incidentally, Remoissenet no longer offers a Chambolle-Musigny Les Echanges.)
