Tasting notes
Possessing additional minerality, as well as tannin, the sensational 2015 Cornas Granit 60 offers a kaleidoscope of black raspberry, blueberries, liquid violets, licorice and crushed rocks. Mostly destemmed and coming from the steep parcels located at higher elevations (lieux-dits Patou, Mazards and Sauman), this rich, concentrated, full-bodied beauty will need 4-5 years (or more) of cellaring to shed its baby fat and integrate its tannin, but it's a killer wine readers should buy by the case; there were just over 400 cases produced. The 2015 Cornas Granit 60 blends three different parcels. Old vines are fermented whole cluster, accounting for 30% to 40% of the total. This is very much Cornas—dark and bloody with hints of crushed stones and plummy fruit. It’s firm and austere as Cornas can be but ripe at the same time. Give it several years in the cellar, and drink it over the next decade and a half. Dec 2017, www.robertparker.com
