Tasting notes
(tasted from tank; from a hillside site rich in white marl soil): Bright, light yellow. Musky lemon and lime aromas are complicated by white flowers and chalk. Densely flavored and intense, showing inviting sweetness to its peach and pear fruit flavors. A nicely bracing wine with the added thickness of the year. Finishes tactile and quite long. These vines are planted at a density of 14,000 per hectare, vs. 30,000 for the special Haute Densité bottling.

The 2015 St Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard has a pretty bouquet with hints of white peach intermixed with fresh pear and frangipane aromas. The palate is marked by good acidity, very sharp, almost shrill, but keeping everything balanced on the penetrating finish. It just needs to gain a little more density during the remainder of its élevage, though Olivier Lamy's wines have a tendency to do exactly that.
Deep nose dominated by smoky reduction. Boasts a rich, even glyceral texture, with very ripe but subtle yellow fruit flavors lifted by sapid minerality. Finishes smoky and persistent. This marne blanche soil retains moisture well and thus these vines were less stressed in 2015 than those in the Clos du Meix, said Olivier Lamy, noting that these grapes were higher in both sugar and acidity.
This is a more robust terroir offering more minerality to the mid-palate fruit – hence also a better match for this rich vintage in my view. The bouquet offer quite rich fruit brought forward by a quite intense citrus driven acidity. On the palate very nice balance .. good crunchy minerality that makes a charming and good match for the generous fruit. A charming and lovely wine. Jan 2017, www.winehog.org
