The 2015 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru sports a subtle reaction that allows the terroir to filter through. The nose is well defined, with scents of beeswax and lanolin; grilled hazelnuts emerge with aeration. The taut, precise palate is very well balanced, possessing a fine line of acidity and conveying a sense of energy and depth toward the finish. There is a lovely tang of ginger and lemongrass on the aftertaste. This has great potential. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)

Tasted blind, the 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières was showing well, offering up a nutty bouquet of green orchard fruit and honeysuckle that's framed by a touch of reduction that dissipates with air. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with bright acids, serious concentration and a long, saline finish. It's quite closed today, but it's an excellent example of Genevrières in Jobard's reductive style.

Pale yellow. Finer and more floral on the nose than the Poruzots, conveying a strong impression of vinosity--and an early harvest date (Jobard actually started on September 3 in 2015). Densely packed and concentrated, with upright flavors of crushed rock, clove and orange zest lifted by an impression of saline energy. More about finesse than opulence, this superb Genevrières leaves the taste buds quivering. Jobard used just 15% new oak.
