Pale, green-tinged yellow. Fresh but reticent scents of lime peel and minerals. Pliant and dense, with intense flavors of lemon, lime zest and underripe pineapple currently dominated by salty, almost metallic minerality. This energetic wine is really stuffed with fruit and it maintains its density through a long finish.

Lovely fragrant nose – jasmine and honeysuckle – with great vivid apple fruit on the palate. Long, dense and impressive. (RH)

The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru les Lys has a composed bouquet with scents of green apple, oyster shell and wet limestone, all nicely defined and gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is fresh on the entry with driving acidity; granite and slate dominate the mid-palate with a stern and steely finish. This is a Zen-like Les Lys, on the austere side, but still nicely balanced and very...Chablis.

(the crop level here was just 30 hectoliters per hectare from these virused 55-to-60-year-old vines planted in shallow, rocky, Kimmeridgian calcaire and marne soil on a slope facing north/northwest): Clear, pale yellow with a green tinge. High-pitched aromas of pear, anise and mint. Dense, chewy, extract-rich wine with lovely detail and lemony lift. Brisk acidity extends the juicy, spicy finish. Wonderfully fresh for this warm year.
