The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru has the most attractive nose of four tasted in this flight from this particular vineyard: well defined, with mineral notes suffusing the citrus fruit with just a hint of white peach, and neatly integrated oak. The palate is very well balanced, offering lovely orange peel and walnut oil notes and good depth, and perhaps just a little exotic toward the finish. Yet that never impedes upon the expression of Puligny-Montrachet. Very well crafted and highly recommended. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Puligny Montrachet 1Er Cru les Perrieres is showing very well, offering up a complex bouquet of crushed rocks, lemon zest and white peach. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and quite generous on the attack, but remains crisp and nicely focused, its ample frame underpinned by bright acidity and chalky extract.

(13.6% alcohol, vs. 13.7% for the Champs Canet and 13.8% for the Macharelles; 4 grams per liter acidity): Very ripe peach on the nose. Nicely ripe but more taut than the Champs Canet, displaying less sweetness but greater stony energy. More classic than the Champs Canet in the context of the vintage, this wine finishes with firm saline minerality and a touch of positive bitterness. A serious 2015 for the cellar: this may well close down further. Carillon notes that this wine always benefits from five years of bottle aging and is typically at its best five to eight years after the vintage.
