Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2035, Neal Martin, Nov 2018

The 2015 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a crisp, precise bouquet of Granny Smith apples, crushed stone and a touch of citrus peel. The palate is well-defined, with blood orange, peach and light nougat notes derived from oak that is neatly subsumed. There is a touch of ginger surfacing toward the finish, and long persistence. A lively Perrières that is, for want of a better expression, full of beans. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières from Ballot-Millot is a definite success, offering up notes of fresh pear, preserved lemon, apple blossom and a touch of pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, glossy and powerful, with good extract and structure, definitely marked by the warm vintage but with the substance to carry it. While this is heavier-set than the Domaine's 2014 rendition, it's nicely done in its richer, riper register.
