Moderately saturated medium red. Nicely perfumed aromas and flavors of currant, licorice and flowers. At once dense and juicy, showing a subtle sweetness even if it's not yet particularly expressive in the middle palate. But this is thick, creamy and serious for village wine and its solid tannins are fully supported by its mid-palate material. Here's a 2015 that was enriched by a long élevage and late bottling. Seamless, energetic and long for village wine.

Very rich and focused. Hedonistic damson juice. Very sweet. For hedonists. Lots packed in here with a bit more freshness than in the Morey. Black fruits. (JR)

(30% new oak, but this sample came from a one-year-old barrel): Bright dark red. Wild, musky aromas of raspberry, mocha and minerals. A bomb of purple fruits in the mouth, with its sucrosité tempered by notes of violet and spices. This creamy-sweet village wine finishes with surprisingly firm, slightly dusty tannins and excellent length.

(from Aux Communes, Les Jacquines and Rouges du Dessus). A ripe and ultra-fresh nose exhibits an almost pungently floral character on the wonderfully spicy nose of Asian-style tea, dark pinot fruit and sandalwood nuances. There is both a lovely sense of energy and relatively fine detail to the middle weight flavors that also brim with dry extract, all wrapped in a strikingly complex, balanced and lingering finish. This is quite refined thanks to the fine-grained tannins and this too should drink well on the younger side if that’s your preference. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
