The 2015 Echézeaux Les Treux Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru seems to have entered a sulky phase. Here, it has a rather straightforward bouquet considering its status: pleasant brambly red fruit without much lift (at least compared to the bottle tasted a year ago.) The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins and a mixture of black and red fruit, but the finish feels tightly coiled. Needs several years in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Echézeaux Les Treux Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is a lovely wine in the making, offering up a youthful bouquet of raspberry, sweet spices and an elegant framing of new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and fine-grained, with lovely racy acids, a deep core of crunchy fruit, and a firm chassis of ripe tannin which is beginning to assert itself as the wine closes down.

Bright, moderately saturated ruby-red. Darker and more primary on the nose than the Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Argillas, offering scents of black cherry, black raspberry, violet, minerals and spicy oak. Analytically the best balanced of these 2015s, with 13.2% natural alcohol and the highest acidity (3.9 grams) and lowest pH (3.45) of the vintage at this address. At once rich and penetrating, with its dark fruit flavors accented by flowers and minerals--in fact, this wine struck me as more 2016-like in its briskness. Finishes firmly tannic, fresh and long, with no easy sweetness. The sappiest of these 2015s, this is built for aging.
