Tasting notes
The 2015 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru offers generous, slightly smudged red berry fruit on the nose; the oak is a little obvious at the moment and missing a touch of class. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, demonstrating a little more skin maceration than Tremblay's Chapelle-Chambertin, and rather blocky and tight-fisted on the black-olive-tinged finish. This could be better. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Biodynamic. Lightish crimson. Initially savoury but then sweetened by a gentle oak note on the nose. A hint of something more herbal but not in the least unripe. Supple, fine texture, already so approachable. Real delicacy but no lack of flavour or persistence. Darker and a little more spicy on the finish than at first. (JH)
The 2015 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a delightful bouquet with generous raspberry and wild strawberry aromas, very floral and exuberant with wilted violet scents and iris emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, crisp acidity and fine cohesion. This is nicely focused, although it just needs a little more substance to "seal the deal" on the finish. It just tapers in a little early and leaves you wanting more. Hopefully that will be addressed with bottle age.
(from 25% En Gémeaux and 75% En la Chapelle). This is also firmly reduced but the big-bodied and admirably concentrated flavors do not display the same disjointed aspect, indeed they possess an entirely different texture as here it is generous, seductive and sappy. The finish however is also quite firm and serious but not really austere and overall, this should be excellent in time. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
