Drink 2018-2025+, FINE+RARE, Mar 2017

Deep and intensely coloured in the glass. Lovely aromas of dark fruit and a touch of blueberry on the nose. Very silky in the mouth with plenty of classic Gevrey structure. Long on the finish and packing plenty of power with the purity of the fruit shining throughout. A lovely Gevrey Village.

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin is plump, juicy and delicious, all qualities that make it good choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Succulent blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and menthol add to the wine’s inviting personality. This is an especially fruity style of Gevrey that avoids some of the wilder notes that are typical of the appellation.

The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin has a more taciturn bouquet compared to the Vosne-Romanée Village, offering tightly wound, pretty dark cherry, cassis and crushed strawberry aromas. The palate is rounded on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, dark cherry and blackcurrant pastilles with a healthy pinch of white pepper towards the structured finish. Give this a year in bottle and drink over several years.

Good dark red, not as saturated or as clear as the Vosne-Romanée. Muskier and more subdued on the nose, hinting at raspberry, coffee, mocha, earth and animal fur. This silky, rather mellow wine is more red fruits than black in style. The plush tannins should not get in the way of early enjoyment. This is currently Remoissenet's largest red wine cuvée , made from parcels all over the village of Gevrey.
