Tasting notes
The 2015 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru is showing nicely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of plums, red berries and sweet spices, framed by a deft application of new oak. Full-bodied, velvety and supple, its ample core of fruit largely conceals its powdery structuring tannins. Nicely balanced, this is a serious, concentrated wine that's still a little reserved, needing more time in the cellar.

The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru is matured entirely entirely in new oak and contains 30% whole bunch fruit this year. It has a fragrant bouquet with ample wild strawberry, ripe (over-ripe?) Satsumas, undergrowth and subtle black truffle aromas. This is a very complex aromatic profile. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet candied opening: kirsch, cranberry and citrus fruit lending this an effervescent personality, veins of blood orange defining the poised and nuanced finish. This is a beautifully crafted Echézeaux.
(from a .07 ha parcel in Cruots). An attractively floral-scented nose displays a wide range of spice elements that add interest to the red berry and orange pekoe tea scents. There is both more volume and richness to the mouth coating, sappy and seductively textured flavors that deliver outstanding length on the clean and dusty finish. This is really quite good and should be one of those 2015s that will age well yet should be approachable young too.
