Tasting notes
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Villages is fabulous, soaring from the glass with a beautiful bouquet of cherry, raspberry, sweet spices, black chocolate and a framing of creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with a rich chassis of tannins, bright acids and a long, intense and youthfully firm finish. With the depth and structure for the long haul, this is a Vosne villages to cellar for a decade or more.

Bright, dark red. Very ripe scents of bitter cherry, dark chocolate and smoky minerality, with lovely subtle floral lift for the vintage. Then big, rich and wonderfully pliant in the middle palate, conveying an almost liqueur-like quality to its berry and milk chocolate flavors. Most impressive today on the classically dry, unflagging back end, which features substantial granular tannins. Very much the product of a sunny year, and a distinctly ripe and pliant style for this estate. At this point in our tasting, Marie-Andrée Mugneret noted that she prefers 2014 to 2015, and certainly the '15s stand out today as atypically thick and rich. But I'm not complaining.
Rich, sweet chestnut notes (a Mont Blanc dessert?) Fine and dry on the end after very lively fruit and structure. Very well done! (JR)
Cask sample. Punchy red fruit, firm and finely ground tannin. Has the floral characteristics of the appellation – reassuringly typical. (RH)
