Tasting notes
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru is an absolute treat. It has all the tropes of Liger-Belair on the nose, quite sumptuous in style, with lush raspberry and crushed strawberry scents. Perhaps it might be considered too oaky for some. I suspect that will be subsumed with time. The palate is very well-balanced, and over an hour, it blossoms in the glass, evolving a disarmingly silky texture and then eases off the accelerator towards its slightly glossy finish. Keep it a couple more years. Excellent.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes has quite an intense raspberry and crushed strawberry bouquet with touches of wilted rose petal surfacing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannin on the entry. There is good backbone here, crisp and precise with fine mineralité on the limestone-rich finish. It is a brisk and pointed Vosne-Romanée that will require 2-3 years in bottle.
Cask sample. Quite a bit of – 15-16% – whole bunch. Heady nose with masses of ripe fruit. Very round and exuberant. Full of charm. Lovely tannins. Great roundness. Very fresh finish. Rather compelling. (JR)
(from vines planted in 1946): Bright red-ruby. Lovely lift to the aromas of black raspberry and minerals. At once silky and juicy in the mouth, with the 20% stem component giving lift and definition to the flavors of dark berries, crushed black cherry and spices. Finishes long and brisk, with captivating spice and violet high notes.
