Tasting notes
The 2015 Clos de Vougeot La Petit Maupertuis contains around 75% whole cluster fruit this year. It has a well-defined, mineral-driven, tensile bouquet that is very terroir expressive. There is superb energy here, leaving the tongue tingling in its wake. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, good grip in the mouth, a little touch of chocolate towards the finish suggesting that it will need 4-5 years in bottle to absorb the oak. This has great potential once in bottle.

(80% vendange entier ; part of the fruit fruit began with some carbonic maceration): Healthy dark red. A hint of dried herbs on the discreet nose, which conveys an impression of medicinal reserve. Plush, smooth, sweet and impressively concentrated, showing a complicating savory quality to its flavors of red and black cherry and spices. Very dense, flavorful wine with the stuffing to support its big, building tannins. Finishes with a distinct sweetness. Incidentally, while for some growers Clos Vougeot has the highest pH of their line-ups, here the pH is a very healthy 3.4, and Leroux noted that he never has problems with acidity here. And yes, he presented this sample after his Chambertin.
