Tasting notes
Medium red-ruby. Deep, exotic aromas of raspberry, crushed rock and caramel, complicated by a wild quality. Incredibly thick, mouthfilling wine with powerful black raspberry fruit and saline soil tones; conveys an uncanny combination of richness and freshness. But there's still some youthful austerity here as this wine displays less early sweetness than the Grands-Echézeaux. As thick on the back end as it is on entry, finishing with palate-staining length and an impression of total ripeness without passing into surmaturité . This wonderfully creamy wine possesses huge tannic support to ensure a long life in bottle.

(these Chambolle-side vines are located near de Vogüé's giant parcel and are nearly 100 years old, according to Laurent): Bright, full red. Knockout nose combines pungent red berries, exotic spices and fresh herbs. A major mouthful of crunchy raspberry and salty minerality, offering a stunning combination of intensity, finesse, definition and subtle soil tones. Finishes classically dry, with palate-staining length and resounding spiciness. A great showing today, but this is built for a long life in bottle.
