Score 90-93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Dec 2016

Bright, moderately saturated red. Sexy aromas and flavors of black raspberry, minerals and dark chocolate. Rich, savory wine with lovely concentration and texture--and a strong element of brown spices. Finishes with salty mineral length and a serious spine of tannins but no hardness. Barnier considers this to be Jadot's "wildest" Nuits-Saint-Georges in 2015.

The 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains has much more personality and charm than the NSG Les Boudots, with copious red cherry and kirsch scents, hints of blood orange developing with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with supple tart red cherry fruit, a pleasant piquancy here with a focused, quite tensile finish that just needs to develop a little more length. Nonetheless, this is a classy Nuits Saint-Georges.

Tank sample. Bright crimson. Slightly animal nose. Drying start, as though the grapes were rather short of juice. Ungainly. (JR)
