Bright, moderately saturated red. Tart red berries, licorice, spices and mint on the nose, further lifted by a rose petal topnote. Juicy and firm but supple too, with red berry and floral flavors accented by mint and herbs. Not fleshy but not lean either, thanks to the added richness of the year. A very refreshing sweet/savory Bourgogne with a fine dusting of tannins and easy gulpability.

(made from a single vineyard in the village of Chenove, at the extreme northern end of the Côte de Nuits): Moderately saturated medium red. Red fruit and spice aromas are fresh and inviting if not particularly complex. Supple, fruity and on the soft side but with sufficient mid-palate energy. The ripe, dusty tannins do not cut off the wine's fruit. Not at all rustic owing to the ripeness of the year; in fact, this Bourgogne is an outperformer in 2015. Yes, Frédéric Barnier showed me this wine after the Corton Pougets, as this was the first cuvée from the Côte de Nuits in my marathon tasting.

The 2015 Bourgogne le Chapitre, from a very underestimated vineyard in my opinion, has a lovely ripe red cherry and strawberry-scented bouquet. The palate is sweet and supple with good depth, a fine bead of acidity and a simple yet delicious, tart cherry finish. Enjoy this over the next 3-4 years.
