Tasting notes
Discreet but not invisible wood serves as a relatively neutral backdrop for the exuberantly spicy aromas soy, hoisin, black raspberry, plum and floral scents. The generously proportioned and amply rich medium-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that imparts a sappy mouth feel to the velvety but firm and serious finale that makes clear this is going to require extended cellaring. In sum, this is an excellent Suchots. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com

The 2015 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru les Suchots has more personality and terroir expression than the Vosne-Romanée Beaumonts at the moment: more detailed and mineralité sutured into the precise black cherry and redcurrant scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, tightly wound but containing plenty of energy. With impressive length and persistence in the mouth, this is bound to be a top Suchots for long-term ageing, evincing the quality of the terroir. What a fabulous wine in the making.
